A Blooming Faith

…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22 NRSV

If your faith were a seed, what kind of fruit would your seed bear? Is it fruit that gives mouthfuls of sweetness? Is it fruit that carries life-sustaining nutrients? Or is it the kind of fruit that leaves a bitter aftertaste?

The seed of faith is designed to take root in the soul and grow until love blossoms, and the fruits of the Spirit are evident. That tells me the fruit that comes from faith in Jesus Christ is the best fruit of all!

Soon winter will begin giving way to Spring. The seeds hidden in the earth will send green shoots up through the dirt. There is amazing potential in those seeds to blossom into beautiful flowers and delicious nourishing fruit.

Recognizing the potential that’s in the seed of faith planted within us, let’s start preparing for our spiritual springtime. That means nurturing that seed, and letting God grow it into the kind of plant that blossoms with love! After all, when properly tended, a single seed can bear the fruit of the Spirit, which is the fruit of love!

A Blooming Faith

I am a Christian. It is my faith in Jesus Christ that defines me.

That’s nice, but the Scriptures tell me that faith without works is dead.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want a dead faith!

So how do I know if my faith is alive or not? I guess I could look and see if it’s blooming!

This picture reminds me that faith is more than professing creeds and observing rituals. Faith is a life-changing process that births God’s love in me, and puts God’s love to work through me.

Maybe today you could join me, and let the your faith bloom into love!
